There is a shlok in Sanskrit, which highlights the rich tradition and culture of the ancient city of Kashi.

"काश्यां हि काशते काशी सर्वप्रकाशिका।
सा काशी विदिता येन तेन प्राप्ता ही काशिका।।”

आत्मज्ञान के प्रकाश से काशी जगमगाती है, काशी सब वस्तुओं को आलोकित करती है। जो इस सत्य को जान गया वह काशी में एकरूप हो जाता है।

which means: The city of Kashi shines in self awareness. Kashi illuminates everything. Whosoever realizes this truth indeed becomes part of Kashi.
